MAHLE small engine components are developed and produced for professional as well as semi-professional use. The reliability and serviceability of our products are extremely important in this area. For example, chain saws are often driven hundreds of miles to their place of use. It must be possible to rely on them to function properly once they arrive there. The next workshop may be far away.

Our pistons and cylinder assemblies for small engines are produced in Germany, Austria, the USA, Brazil and China.

With a market share of about 40 percent, MAHLE is the largest small piston manufacturer in China. In Europe, we are the largest supplier in our segment to manufacturers of professional hand-held motor devices such as chain saws, cutters, grinders, blowers, plant spray equipment and lawnmowers. Furthermore, our components are also used in motorcycles and leisure vehicles like snowmobiles, personal watercraft and allterrain vehicles.

The new exhaust gas and noise legislation for small engines, which will be fully effective in 2008, represents a challenge for research and development – a challenge that MAHLE is ready to face. Emissions and noise levels are already lower today through the use of new technologies.
