Air Management Systems—competence for the entire air section
Air intake and air filtration systems for gasoline and diesel engines. Exhaust gas recirculation systems as well as numerous mechatronics components and systems, valve covers with integrated oil mist separation. Active and passive oil mist separator systems with pressure-regulating valves for crankcase ventilation.
Even during the early years of the company, MAHLE recognized that effective cleaning of combustion air and lubricant is an indispensable element in improving the service life of engines and engine components. In line with this understanding, work began in 1926 on the development and production of air and oil filters. Only then was it possible to commence the reduced-wear use in series production of lightweight pistons developed by MAHLE. After having to concentrate on the core business with pistons during the war, re-entry was achieved by a participation in Knecht Filterwerke GmbH. Strong organic growth was accelerated by the acquisition of the Japanese Tennex Corporation, an important component of further expansion. This opened up markets outside Europe, with the result that today MAHLE is the number one worldwide supplier of filter products to the automobile industry.
